While the interconnected resorts of Niseko United offer more than enough terrain to fill the days for many skiers and boarders, there’s still more out there for the adventurous.
Just minutes from Higashiyama is Moiwa, a small, mostly ungroomed resort beloved of powderhounds. Make sure to come early to catch it at its best. A little further out, within an hour or two of Niseko, there are the resorts of Rusutsu and Kiroro, as well as guided cat skiing in Weiss, Chisenupuri and Iwanai.
The winter at SnowDog Village offers you such services as shuttle which provides you access to ski lifts, ski rental delivery service which gives you a hassle-free ski/snowboard rental arrangement, and a ski dry room located next to the reception for your convenience.
For non-skiers, or simply for a change from the main event, there are snow rafts and snowmobiles, while at the other end of the spectrum is snowshoeing. The forest in winter is magical, all sound stilled and the snow revealing the movements of animals and the fall and drift of the snow itself.
